Swimming makes us feel great, but what does the science say about how it affects health? Dr Verity Biggs comments, “After menopause, and even before, bone thinning occurs due to the reduction in oestrogen, but by regularly exercising you can reduce this impact. Swimming is a great form of exercise as it builds strength, yet also gives you a cardiovascular workout, too.”
